In IJM’s sphere of work, half of the words we use are acronyms. Haha!
But seriously, with all the partner organizations, methods, and official terminology, this industry abounds with acronyms. It’s a known and accepted reality.
The Acronym Finder (development in progress) is a tool conceptualized to be of assistance to anyone struggling with acronym overload.
While the main feature is the search function, upon scrolling down, you’ll discover a set of cards that work like flashcards. These can be used for fun—to test one’s knowledge of acronyms, or perhaps an impromptu game that can be a fun warm-up for a meeting.
The last section of the page has a form that lets readers suggest acronyms to add. This allows partners to suggest acronyms. What’s great about this is that people are invited to contribute and feel a sense of belonging in the community of child protection.
