In 2022, it was International Justice Mission's (IJM) 25th year anniversary. IJM was also about to celebrate 21 years of working for child protection in the Philippines.

Atty. Sam Inocencio, National Director of IJM Philippines, decided it was an opportune time to give special gifts to honor those who have contributed significantly to its mission.

The gift of story

The selected idea was a commemorative coffee table book, as IJM Philippines had a powerful story to tell: a story of change and transformation in the criminal justice system.

IJM’s partnership with the government contributed to the significant reduction of the prevalence of commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC), particularly in areas where the organization focused its efforts—areas with high concentrations of CSEC.

Following this decade-long achievement, IJM shifted its focus to address the emerging threat of online sexual exploitation of children.

The photos in the book represent key moments and themes in IJM’s journey in the Philippines. They bring to mind the days in which all the change hoped for seemed impossible. Some photos highlight the roles of government and law enforcement partners, who persevered, working on one case after another. And other images represent the children in need of rescue and protection.

While this book is a heartfelt message of appreciation for donors and partners who have been instrumental in IJM's work, it is also a declaration that transformation is indeed possible.

Selected spreads from the book. The book has thirteen spreads, and narrative running through it. The photographs are the main highlight, and the book can be read in one sitting.
